I really hope that no one in this audience answers yes to this, but I have to ask…. Does one of you happen to have a copy of the 1997 Chevy Chase film Vegas Vacation? And, if so, would you mind playing it for me over the phone?
You see, Shanster just mentioned in the comments section that part of this film may have been shot here in Ypsilanti and I need to either confirm or deny it… I don’t want to come off as an alarmist, but if I find out that Chevy Chase was ever here, even for a moment, I’ll have no choice but to start a campaign for a citywide exorcism. (I hate Chevy Chase.)
(If they really did film here, I suspect it was only long enough for a brief chuckle at the expense of our beloved, but unfortunately designed, water tower. And, if that’s the case, I think that the producers of the film at least owe us an apology.)

I rented the movie this weekend, but was not able to find anything that looks Ypsi-esque, except for a scene in a bar, called the Club Areola. I don’t know what any of our ‘Gentlemen’s Clubs’ look like on the inside, but that could’ve been it. It’s a scene near the end.
Since you went to all that effort, Shanster, the least I could do is visit a few strip club and follow up on the lead.
I would start with Legs on Michigan Avenue in the Township.
Love the flick with Quaid because he and Chase do such a bang up job.
Cheers,
Chase

Spam is getting way more intelligent… Either a real person just left that (which I think would be too expensive), or they detected my link to the Internet Movie Database, grabbed the names “Quaid” and “Chase” out of the cast list, and then plugged them into a generic post. (Or, I guess they could just have little canned posts for a bunch of movies, including Vegas Vacation.) Either way, it’s weird… For those of you who don’t believe in evolution, just watch the comment spam that gets left here from day to day. It’s a new lifeform.
