suckering in the new kids

I didn’t have my camera with me today, but I saw a sign in Ann Arbor, in front of a house on State Street, amid all the hustle and bustle of students moving in, that made me laugh. It was a big, crudely-drawn sign that said, “Freshman Girls Register Here,” with an arrow pointing up the stairs, toward a darkened doorway.

Speaking of signs, the entire town seems to be blanketed in posters for an organization called The Church of the Next Generation. I haven’t done too much digging yet, but it looks like the group, a chapter of a Christian missionary organization called Great Commission Ministries, is on at least one group’s cult watch list. As they’re holding services on campus, in a University building, one suspects they’ve been vetted to some extent, but I still can’t help but get a little suspicious when I see so much advertising with so little content.
