a church’s attempt at guerilla marketing?

This hand-written note was found stuck under the windshield wiper of one of our friends at Caliblog. (No one else in the supermarket parking lot apparently got one.) I like the little smiley face. It seems to indicate that there’s hope.

I just noticed that the two points about homosexual sex, and the one about Devil worship, didn’t get underlined in red. I’m just wondering what must have been going through this guy’s head as he went back over the letter with his red pen… “Hmmm…. whoremongers…. yep, I’d better emphasize that… and Lake of Fire definitely needs a little umph… but these gay sex things… hmmmm… I think it might be more effective to downplay them a bit…”

That is just plain sad. First, the message is hateful and contrary to God’s loving call. But if you’re going to try to fire and brimstone someone into heaven, then please use proper grammar!

Yeah… my favorite part was the little smiley face next to the word Heaven too… it seems so oblivious to the rest of the letter.

If I might ask, what’s on the other side of the paper? Is there perhaps a clue as to who might have left it?

I’m thinking southern origins here. Not because of the content, but because of the underlining. It’s chronic among all my southern relatives to underline every word.

Though even they don’t put their postscripts at the top of their letters.

Yeah, I noticed the “PS” at the top. My thinking is that it was an afterthought, but that there was no room at the bottom of the page. I think the smiley face was probably an afterthought as well. I don’t know why this note interests me so much, but I can’t stop reading it… I know Mike (the guy in CA who posted it) has better things to do, but I’m thinking about asking him to set up a stake-out to try to catch the person responsilbe. I think it would make a great interview.
