nuclear action network

In response to the nuclear showdown over judicial nominees that’s shaping up on the floor of the Senate, People for the American Way is launching a television ad campaign directed at the constituents of Senators in Alaska, Maine and Pennsylvania. They’ve also organized what they’re calling the Nuclear Option Mass Immediate Response, a system that will, if you opt in, notify you by way of a text message to your cell phone, when the Republicans pull the nuclear trigger. On most phones, you will then be prompted to dial the number of your Senator’s office to register your opinion. (Of course, I’d rather that people call the offices of their Senators now and not put it off until the vote is called for, but I like the idea of the Capital Hill switchboards totally lighting up less than a minute after the vote is called for.)

Closer to home, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, members of the Ann Arbor community will be holding a “Filibuster for Democracy” on the steps of the Michigan Union (in the spirit of what’s been done at Princeton and elsewhere). You’re all encouraged to participate.

If I knew how to use Photoshop, I would have replaced either Frist’s or Bush’s head for Che’s… Sorry.
