turning over rocks

I followed a link from Metafilter earlier and wound up on Frederick Clarkson’s page reading all about radical Christian nationalist David Barton, a man who, it seems, not only wants to see America become a Christian theocracy under “Biblical law,” but also seems to have a few fans in Congress. It’s interesting and terrifying stuff… especially the information about the time he’s been spending with Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist. I thought that you might want to check it out. (The weird thing is, I just went back to reread the Metafilter post and it’s gone…. Eerie, huh?)

I forgot to mention it, but Barton is also Vice-Chair of the Texas Republican party.

The post is still visible at http://www.metafilter.com/mefi/41158 and includes the reason it was deleted (“And so? I don’t see the reason you posted this.”). I agree that it wasn’t a very good post, even if it did link to an interesting guy.

Thanks, George, for letting me know what happened with that MetaFilter post… And thanks, Patty, for the link. I moved it up to the front page so that everyone could see it. (Lots of our RSS friends don’t read comments.)
