brett spits the cat

Brett becomes the first of the team to “spit the cat,” by scoring a real local news story that isn’t being told anywhere else… the story of brothers Robert and Charles Pomnitz, who claim not to have been paid for work they did on the apartments which are being put up on the site of the Peninsular Paper massacre. (Not only do they claim not to have been paid for days of labor, but they suggest that corners are being cut in the construction of the student housing units.)

I have to look at those things everyday on my way to work, and I think they are an eye sore.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they cut corners. I’ve watched the construction, and those things went up like they were made out of press board.

I’d have to dig back through Hillary Cherry’s archives, but I believe she made a prediction concerning their probability of their burning. I believe it had something to do with the poor quality of the materials and how fast the flames would spread.

    She’s a former fireperson.

And I think her husband, Steve, made a prediction about the first drunken student to be killed crossing over the railroad tracks that separate the apartments from the bars.

    Fun, fun, fun.

Boy, those signs are hard to read, especially the blinding yellow one–at first I thought it was “Why Doesn’t JISL PFY EMFLHUIEDS????????

Brett did a great job, and provided a good example of jumping on the story.
