starving the beast with compassionate conservativism

If you visit the Democrats.org site, you can download a report on your individual state and how it will be affected by Bush’s recently submitted federal budget. Here, for those who are interested in such things, are a few highlights from the Michigan report:

(sung to the tune of the Wizard of Oz’s somewhere over the Rainbow)I prefer the Hawaiin ukelele version

    Somewhere over the border
    Way up high,
    There’s a land that I heard of
    pre-GOP horror movie.
    Somewhere over the border
    Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare (go on they dare you) to dream
    Really do come true.

Someday I’ll wish upon a car
And wake up where emmissions are far
    Behind me.
Where troubles melt like acid rain drops
    Above super fund chimney tops
    That’s where you’ll find me.

    Somewhere over the border
    Bluebirds breathe.
    Birds fly over the border.
Why then, oh why can’t I?

    If happy little bluebirds breathe
    Beyond the border
    Why, oh why can’t I?

    Somewhere over the rainbow
    Way up high
    There’s a land that I heard of
    Once in a lullaby

    Somewhere over the rainbow
    Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
    Really do come true

Some day I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
    Where troubles melt like lemondrops
    Away above the chimney tops
    That’s where you’ll find me

    Somewhere over the rainbow
    Bluebirds fly
    Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can’t I?
Some day I’ll wish upon a star

I’m trying to think of something clever to say, but it’s hard. I’m watching America’s Next Top Model and right now and they’re all wearing bikinis.

It took an entire hour, but they finally whittled it down to the 15 most beautiful, and the 5 most bat-shit crazy.

I am a Republican, and all this political talk is a pain as there are so many other things in life to focus on. I would like to be happy once in a while if only a Democrat will let me. There are so many interesting things to talk about, so why do conversations errupt with people who don’t know me?

Unfortunately, life doesn’t give us a crystal ball, so you never know who will be a good leader until after he/she is elected.

However, you Democrats are a bunch of asses as you keep changing direction like the wind. There hasn’t been an email that was sent to me by a friend, who is a Democrat, that even asks “How are you today”? It is all a matter of good taste and manners to know when to back off.

    What? How are you today??
Lighten up, Frances. American political discourse has been ugly since the 1700s. The Federalists, especially Hamilton, seem to show nothing but respect for political debate and the opposition, but the Anti-federalists were venemous and hateful. As Kerry said “Bring…it…on.” (Then he proceeded to complain that they brough it on.)

So, are you suggesting that when John Kerry quoted Bush and said, “Bring it on” relative to those who were questioning his service in Vietnam, that he was giving the Republicans permission to photoshop him into photos with Jane Fonda, attribute false quotes to him, and spread lies about an affair that never happened? Do you also feel that women who dress provocatively are asking to get raped?

I didn’t think Kerry’s quote was quoting Bush, but I could be wrong. I thought he was just challenging the Republicans to bring on their attacks (during the nomination acceptance speech?). His stance was Rocky/Rambo-esque, but then when the attacks came, he didn’t meet them head on (just as Bush didn’t meet Cindy Sheehan again). Yes (Photoshopping is funny, but Liberals do it better), no, no, and no.
