dreams of horses

I had a dream last night that Bill Murray was a reader of this site. In the dream, he sent me a letter written on a washcloth telling me how much he enjoyed it. Somehow, he sent it through the internet. It didn’t occur to me at the time that that was odd. It (the washcloth) got cut in half in the process though, so maybe the system for sending tangible things like washcloths through the internet isn’t perfected yet. Patti Smith was in my dream too. She was teaching a college course of some kind that I was taking. I don’t think anyone else in the class knew who she was. She’d break into song occasionally to make some kind of point about science, or linguistics, or whatever it was that we happened to be studying. Right before I woke up, she was singing the song “Horses.” There was a kind of delayed echo in the room so that a moment after she sang a line it would be repeated from nowhere, slightly changed, in chorus. It was really beautiful. I wish I could go back there every night.

Not to dredge up the past but…

What’s the deal with Hooperman? I have been waiting in front of my mailbox, Charlie Brown style, for weeks and still nothing! Is it because you don’t think I have experience? I have experience! I helped my sister’s friend out with a class project when she was student teaching. It was called Flat Stanley. We took it around and took pictures of local touristy things with this collaged man that they made. I sent it all back for the class to enjoy.

For the record, Flat Stanley is a common class project based on the book by Jeff Brown.
I checked it out of the library to read to my daughter at the time, but it isn’t that good.

Was this pre or post-Oscar nomination Bill Murray? If it was the former you will have stranger visiting you in the near future, the latter a purely Freudian anxiety dream.

And Horses, well what can I say but that I will be downloading that to my iPod immediately. Memories…

That’s fucking ace, man. Post more dreams. “I wish I could go there every night”… I like that sentiment too!

The Ritter thing is still in the works, Ken, as is the magnetic ribbon project. I just have too much going on right now. Be patient though. The postman will be slipping Flat Tripper under your door in no time… And, yes, “Horses” is a great record… As for dreams, I usually don’t remember them. This was an aberration. It must have been important.

Patti Smith was okay, but nobody sang “Horses” like Tom Stacks:

That flat little fucker gets around, doesn’t he?

And, Doug, I’ve tried to download the 1926 Tom Stacks song “Horses” a few times now, but I can’t seem to get it to work… I’ll keep trying.

I’ve got an idea for him, but it involves me going to the police station and asking the cops for a favor, and I’m reluctant to do it…. I’ll get up the courage though.
