pointing the way like the north star

I’m not a huge fan of the ubiquitous corporate advertising that gluts our modern world, but I just noticed this at the Buffoonery site and had to link to it. It’s a gallery of images like this one, and I think they’re absolutely beautiful. I know I’d grow tired of floating logos, just as I have with the earthbound ones we’re all so accustomed to, but seeing them this way here, with their supports photoshopped away, makes them seem unworldly and wonderful.

As a designer of signs, I am always trying to acheive this look but the fabricators say that they can’t do it. They are so short sighted.
