armstrong williams: bought and paid for

It’s just been brought to light that the Bush administration paid almost a quarter million dollars to African-American commentator Armstrong Williams for his enthusiastic public support of the president’s “No Child Left Behind” program. I’m not sure how you feel about having your tax dollars spent on deceptive, unethical marketing practices like this, but it strikes me as incredibly evil.

“Yeah, and don’t worry about the blacks. We’ll get Armstrong on the payroll.”

Why not stop all the pussyfooting around and just cut to the chase by announcing the formation of a state-run news agency? Isn’t that where we’re heading?
