they can’t win on issues so they push homophobia

I just picked this up at the Daily Kos site… Apparently, it’s not enough that the Republicans got an anti-gay initiative on the ballot in eight states to lure every evangelical homophobe out to the polls, but now they’re ratcheting it up a notch by placing fake calls to voters in Michigan. Here’s a clip from the article:

In a recording of a phone call played for The Associated Press, a young woman says: “When you vote this Tuesday remember to legalize gay marriage by supporting John Kerry. We need John Kerry in order to make gay marriage legal for our city. Gay marriage is a right we all want. It’s a basic Democrat principle. It’s time to move forward and be progressive. Without John Kerry, George Bush will stop gay marriage. That’s why we need Kerry. So Tuesday, stand up for gay marriage by supporting John Kerry.”

Before you cast your vote for Bush tomorrow, just do me a favor and take a moment to consider the company you’re keeping. Regardless of what these people have told you, they are not “good Christians.” They are deplorable and they need to be stopped.

Mark- I just talked to my brother who went to see Kerry tonight. He said the place was pretty packed (he estimated about 10,000 people).

    More later.

See the Freep article on these last-minute automated calls:

Apparently some of the anonymous calls, which are taking place in heavily Democratic districts, are falsely stating that polling locations have been changed.

    “Suppress the Detroit vote.” Remember?
