pray for reason

Neal Pollack announces the launch of Pray for Reason, a site dedicated to spreading the message that a lunatic Christian cult has the run of the White House, the ear of the president, and a lust for Armageddon. Here are a few quotes from Mr. Pollacks opening salvo as printed in The Stranger:

Writers for alternative newspapers on the West Coast generally aren’t prone to making hyperbolic, paranoid statements, but I’ll smash the mold: Our country is being run by a lunatic Christian cult

Last weekend, the Texas Republican party approved a platform that refers to the “myth of the separation of church and state,” and proclaimed America a “Christian nation.” The platform also declares that the Ten Commandments are “the basis of our Freedoms.”

As Mr. Pollack says, Be afraid.

When I finally roll out a new and improved website, itll have a permanent link on the front page to Theocracy Watch (http://www.theocracywatch.org/). If you havent been there yet, you should make it a point to visit. Its a good resource for anyone who believes that this administration is erasing the line between church and state Speaking of which, I dont think that I posted to it a week or so ago, but there was a good article somewhere about the Reagan family and their statements, after the former presidents death, concerning those Republicans who are trying to claim his mantle in order to see the US become a Christian nation. The Reagans, or at least Ron Reagan, the son of the president, feels as though this is exactly whats happening, and, in his opinion, this isnt something that Ronald would have approved of.

As for the spirit of the Chief inhabiting the whale, Im afraid I dont have anything to add. I suppose anything is possible And I kind of like the idea of reincarnation. It seems more fair than the hell or heaven judgment.
